Malaysia gas pipeline explosion

Neighbors helping neighbors

Three members of the HostPlatform team in Malaysia standing together

When Jayden heard about a gas pipe that exploded in Putra Heights in April of 2025, he immediately reached out to his network to help people who’d been displaced by the disaster. As CEO of HostPlatform, Jayden works with thousands of hosts across Malaysia and Southeast Asia to help them manage their listings. So, when he discovered Airbnb.org was providing two weeks of free, emergency housing to people impacted by the explosion, he and his colleagues, Ken and Eunice, encouraged hosts in Putra Heights to make their homes available to those in need.

“We are proud to be able to help and give back to the community because this is our responsibility as Malaysians”

Their commitment extended beyond outreach—they also attended community meetings at the shelter where many survivors were staying, assisting them in signing up through Airbnb.org
