On April 1, 2025, during the religious holiday Eid, a fire erupted from a burst gas pipeline, displacing more than 500 people, injuring more than 150, and destroying 81 homes.

Airbnb.org provided free, emergency housing for 491 people who were displaced by the gas pipeline explosion in Putra Heights, Malaysia.

Airbnb.org worked with The Ministry of Selangor who identified residents in need of temporary housing and helped to connect them to Airbnb.org stays.
